Press release and review at the events on the 25th of November 2009 |
Almost one year ago the enduring maximum price situation on the markets led to a great uncertainty for the buyers. “What are the reasons for these price extremes, how will it go on and what are the options to fight against it?”. Those were the main questions of the participants. In the meantime the market situation has highly changed. Due to the strong financial crisis the worldwide real economy - certainly also the steel industry - has suffered. One the one side the falling demand for the central material of the world has led to a recovery of prices, but on the other side it has also changed the world of suppliers.

Because of their interesting sourcing potentials emerging markets like India or China are also for small and medium-sized companies of increasing economical importance. While big companies already use these potentials a long time, the German middle class still drags behind here. For one single medium-sized company it has been very risky or because of their small demands it has often not been possible to use such sourcing channels until now. Procurement net introduces its innovative cooperative concept on the 3rd Dow Jones Steel Day 2008 |
Within the last 12 months the steel price increased by 50% to 80% depending on steel type. The different base raw materials and alloying components for the metal production like coke, ore, chrome, nickel etc. were also subject to turbulent price trends. Altogether, there is a high uncertainty at the steel buyers and the metalworking industry. The missing communication and interest egotisms between the single steel or metal production stages lead to hardened fronts again and again. Speculators make use of this market constellation shamelessly, through what the "price theatre" is lit in addition.
